How to Get Yama in Blox Fruits and Unlock Its Attacks

Yama is one of the two legendary blades associated with Kozuki Oden in Blox Fruits, alongside Tushita. Before attempting to bring these two weapons together, you must first obtain Yama on its own. The journey mainly requires patience: it involves defeating 30 Elite Pirates, whose spawns are spaced out and spread across several locations.

Once this first objective has been completed, the blade awaits in a hidden area on Hydra Island. However, simply clicking the sword once is not enough: pulling it out triggers a particular sequence involving a curse and enemies that must be driven back. Here is the full process for obtaining Yama, along with the attacks unlocked through its mastery.

Yama: an essential first blade on the path to Oden’s weapons

Yama is the first step toward bringing together Oden’s two swords. The other weapon is Tushita, which follows a separate path involving platforms tied to Aura colors, the summoning of Rip Indra, and a fight against Longma. Find every step of that second quest in our guide on how to get Tushita in Blox Fruits.

For Yama, the main requirement is straightforward: defeat 30 Elite Pirates. Your progress can be checked with the NPC who also provides the location of an active Elite Pirate. This check is useful for knowing exactly how many eliminations remain.

Step 1: defeat 30 Elite Pirates

Elite Pirates are not available at all times. They respawn every ten minutes, making this quest lengthy even with strong combat power. In addition, their spawn point varies: reaching an island and repeatedly going to the same location is not enough.

Deandre, found on Hydra Island, is among the targets fought during this progression. After each elimination, the best approach is to check the progress information again, then ask for the location of the next available opponent.

Why this step takes time

The challenge is not solely based on the difficulty of the fights. You must also deal with three factors: the delay between spawns, the search for different spawn points, and the possible presence of other players on the server. A player who arrives before you may indeed engage the Elite Pirate you are looking for.

The Buddha Fruit makes fights easier thanks to its form and reach, but it does not reduce the wait between spawns. A Portal Fruit can also be useful for improving travel, provided you have developed enough mastery.

After the thirtieth victory, the progress tracker shows that the 30 Elite Pirates have been defeated. Only then can Yama be pulled out from its secret location.

Step 2: find the hidden waterfall passage on Hydra Island

The location is on Hydra Island, also known as Boa Hancock’s island. You need to spot the waterfall between the mountains, then take the passage leading behind it. The area contains several enemies and a sword embedded in its pedestal: this is Yama.

This part may seem misleading if you discover the place before completing the 30 Elite Pirate requirement. The blade is visible, but it cannot be obtained until the requirement has been met.

Step 3: pull out Yama despite the curse

Once you are in front of the weapon, interact with it directly. Pulling it out requires repeatedly clicking on Yama. During the process, the game states that the blade appears to be affected by a curse and warns of the danger of continuing.

Enemies then appear in the room. You must defeat them while continuing to interact with the sword. Precision matters: the cursor must target Yama to advance its extraction. Once the action is finally completed, the weapon is added to your inventory and can be equipped.

Yama then displays two mastery-based abilities: Hellish Slash and Infernal Hurricane. To use them effectively, it can be worthwhile to reset your stats and invest more points in Sword, alongside Melee and Defense.

Leveling Yama mastery

After obtaining it, Yama must be leveled to 300 mastery to reveal all the attacks mentioned here. Farming on Chocolate Island allows you to gain mastery quickly by defeating enemies one after another.

With the Buddha Fruit, this work remains manageable: its transformation helps you take hits and strike several enemies. The progression is nevertheless repetitive, since it mostly consists of multiplying battles until you reach the required thresholds.

Hellish Slash

Hellish Slash unlocks at 150 mastery. The attack charges before being released, producing a red ranged strike. Its visual effect resembles an energy slash followed by a whirlwind that knocks back hit enemies.

This ability is therefore not limited to a melee strike. When aimed properly, it lets you target a distant opponent and create space around yourself.

Infernal Hurricane

Infernal Hurricane becomes available at 300 mastery. It also requires a charge time, then propels the character when activated. This built-in mobility makes the attack especially spectacular and gives Yama an additional option for engaging or moving through a group of enemies.

Yama therefore has a strong visual identity, although its full purpose lies in the goal of obtaining Oden’s two blades. The dual-weapon quest is more demanding: Yama and Tushita must both be raised to 350 mastery before the trials associated with the Cursed Dual Katana in Blox Fruits.
